We will be holding nature ‘Walks on Wild Side of Calton Hill’ on Sunday 10 September. Three groups led by specialists will record, take photos and talk about birds, plants and insects.
Group One, Looking at birds, will be led by Stephen Welch, the Lothian recorder of the long-established Scottish Ornithological Club. It will meet at the National Monument at 06.30 on Sunday 10 September and last until around 09.30.
Group Two, looking at plants and trees, will be led by the well-known botanist/plant surveyor/author of ‘Plants and Habitats’ Ben Averis. It will meet at the National Monument at 10.00 and last until just before 13.00.
Group Three, looking for insects, will be led by environmentalist & entomologist Craig Macadam of Buglife Scotland. It will meet at the National Monument at 13.00 and last until around 16.00.
Groups will be limited to 8 members (plants) and 12 members (birds and insects). Preference will be given to members.
